Process

The MDIH School Board is pleased to announce that the firm of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) has been retained to assist the school board with its search for a new school district administrator/ superintendent. HYA was selected after receiving proposals from six firms that specialize in placing candidates in school district administrative positions.

A job posting can be found on HYA’s website which can garner national attention. In addition, we await confirmation of placement on the WI School Leadership Center’s site.

HYA a survey, soliciting feedback on key characteristics for the district’s next superintendent. A link was placed on this website and another message was sent to school families indicating that the survey had been opened. In addition, a press release was sent to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in hopes of getting survey information out to the broader MDIH community.

While the survey was live, HYA conducted individual interviews of school board members, representatives from parent support groups (PTO and Educational Foundation), as well as administrative team members, the district leadership team, and staff. Information garnered from all of these sources were used to create the leadership profile that will guide the search and selection process. The leadership profile and survey reports are linked above.

On Thursday, June 18, representatives from HYA will meet with the board to deliver its slate of recommended candidates.  Initial interviews for the position will take place early the following week (June 22 and June 23).

Community and staff member participation will be solicited once the board has selected its top candidate(s). While specific arrangements are still being developed, tentative dates are being held for online meetings according to the following schedule:

  • June 25-27 online community participation

  • June 25 online staff member participation

  • June 29 online administrative team participation

The board is still hoping for a July appointment and this schedule will allow for that.
