S.T.E.A.M. (integration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) concepts came to life in second grade this week! Mr. Heston, Maple Dale science teacher, has been spending the last period of the day at Indian Hill this year to team with classroom teachers for S.T.E.A.M. and Outdoor Education opportunities. Students learned how to problem solve through coding robots. If one part of the code went awry, students needed to problem solve with each other to figure out what to fix to ensure the robot followed the right path. Mr. Heston taught students that the same problem-solving techniques apply in real life situations, too! Check out these fun photos of this incredible hands-on learning experience.
